Windows 7 End of Life is January 14, 2020. Are you prepared?

Windows 7 End of Life is January 14, 2020. Are you prepared?

Windows 7 End of Life is January 14, 2020. What does this mean for you and are you prepared?

Well, Windows 7 has had a great run, similar to Windows XP, yet change is inevitable. The retirement of Windows 7 signifies much more than when XP reached end of life. The use of mobile devices and the Cloud are contributing factors to this big change, along with the obvious…..SECURITY! “End of Life” for Windows 7 will be bittersweet for some and a welcome change for others. Basically, Microsoft will no longer provide security updates or support PC’s running Windows 7. Today, the growing security breaches and worldwide cyberthreats come with more catastrophic consequences than back in the day when consumers where kicking and screaming about losing XP. We anticipate that Microsoft will adhere to their target date without any time extensions as seen with Windows XP.

What does this mean for you? You will still be able to use your Windows 7 Operating System, however without the critical security updates and support, even if you have a strong Antivirus program installed, your system is at risk.  Other software applications and browsers such as Internet Explorer will no longer work.  If your company has to meet certain compliance standards, such as HIPAA or PCI  you will have to replace your operating system for security purposes. Now is the time to act unless your like getting viruses, experiencing slow performance, or not being able to access the Internet.

Upgrading to a new operating system takes time and planning. Now is the time to prepare, contact Orange County Computer to have us evaluate your system. We can evaluate your system or network and help you determine an upgrade timeline by identifying the most critical systems and technologies affected. Our Technical Team can also assist you in moving towards alternative solutions such as the Cloud.

For more information on upgrading your system from Windows 7 for your personal or business needs contact us now at 949-699-6619 to get started!
